We have reached the middle of the year! June is officially over people! Okay, yes, I am excited. Let’s have a little moment to reminisce, shall we? I started this monthly writing challenge back in January of this year as a way to challenge myself. I’ve always wanted to write, but for some reason or another it was never the “right time”. But this year I was determined to change all that. I created this challenge as a way to motivate myself, and my graph as a representation of my progress. This is the first time I haven’t thrown in the towel on my writingRead More →

Another month has gone by, so time to check in on my Monthly Book Draft Challenge! I feel like I got into a pretty good groove this month and I’m excited to see the results, so let’s just jump right to it. Fairytale: 15k Gingerbread: 18k Ocean’s Daughter: 0k Total: 33k Wowza! Yes! Now that’s what I’m talking about! Without a doubt, this has been my most productive month yet! 33 thousand beautiful new words, almost double my initial output when I first began this challenge! I’m still aiming to reach the elusive 50k words in a month that NaNoWriMo likes to dangle in frontRead More →

Alright folks, it’s the end of the month, time to check on my handy dandy Monthly Book Draft Challenge graph! I know the graphs are a bit tedious one right after another, but I feel it’s important not to lose track of my progress and the journey I’ve made so far this year. I promise, soon enough I’ll get into some real discussions and discourse. But for now, let’s look at April! Fairytale: 3k Gingerbread: 10k Ocean’s Daughter: -2k Total: 13k Hmmm. Overall, an additional 13k new words. It’s still not as great as the 16k I managed my first month in February, but it’s stillRead More →

It’s the end of the month, and time to check in on my Monthly Book Draft Challenge! As usual, I am comparing my progress of words from this month to last month’s word count. I find I’m really enjoying this process, since it gives me a nice visual way to reflect on my writing habits, process and goals. (Plus who doesn’t like pretty graphs?) Fairytale: 8k Gingerbread: 4k Ocean’s Daughter: 0 Total: 12k Interesting! Wow, to be perfectly honest, I had no idea I had written that much this month! Sure, I know 12k isn’t super amazing, and it doesn’t quite level up to myRead More →

It’s the end of the month, and keeping up with the spirit of my 2017 goal, it’s time to check in on my Monthly Book Draft Challenge! Let’s see what February looks like! So, how was my improvement? Fairytale: 15k Gingerbread: 0 Ocean’s Daughter: 1k Total: 16k Alright! Approximately 16,000 new words for the month of February! That’s not bad at all! As you can see, most of my new words went into Fairytale. I’ve really been focused on completing that draft first, and admittedly it’s striking me with the most inspiration at the moment. Unfortunately, Gingerbread fell to the wayside a bit, but I have toRead More →

Today, we’re going to take a closer look at my very first novel, Fairytale. Fairytale is a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, and admittedly probably my favorite project at the moment. Beauty and the Beast has always been a special story to me, and I absolutely love the characters I’m working with. I’m very excited to see this novel through to completion and to share the process here as I work my way through it. So today, I wanted to give a brief overview of my own version of Beauty and the Beast! Let me be frank however, synopsis writing is HARD, and thisRead More →

I have decided that 2017 is going to be my year of changes. Positive changes! Changes in MY control! My biggest change? Pursuing my dream of becoming a published author! Like many budding authors, seeing my name in print has been a lifelong dream. I have many novels in various stages of completion (you can read about them more in my Books page!), and this is the year I’m finally going to make them a reality. I know this is going to be a slow process, and I don’t yet have the discipline or time to sit down and pound out a thousand words atRead More →

It’s time to start making dreams come true. It’s time to start writing The Pixie Chronicles. If you’re here, you can probably relate to my story: you’ve dreamed of being a published author since childhood, yet were always being too afraid to take that final plunge. You weren’t a good enough writer yet. You weren’t old enough. You didn’t have enough experience or knowledge or time. This has been my story for a long time. I’ve watched from the sidelines for many years, always hoping I would reach that perfect place in my life where I finally felt ready to seriously pursue my goal. ToRead More →

Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Rebeccah, and I am the author of the The Pixie Chronicles, a series of standalone fairy tale retellings. I created this website as a place to bring together all of my work and this blog specifically to share my writing thoughts and process. My books will be self-published, and I’m excited to share my process with you. At the moment my goal is to update a minimum of once a week. I hope to double that once I get more into the swing of things, and I’m always on the lookout for new and fun writerlyRead More →
